THE SCIENCE OF CONSCIOUSNESS
April 25-30, 2016 - Tucson
Pre-Conference Workshop
Monday, April 25, 2 pm to 6 pm
The Unity of Consciousness
A fundamental unity of consciousness underlies the multitude of cognitive, affective and perceptual processes that constitute our everyday experience. It is known implicitly as one’s own subjectivity, but can, under the right conditions, become revealed as the all-encompassing ground of being. This singular space pervades and unifies the intrinsic and the extrinsic aspects of our experience into one seamless nondual presence. This workshop will present both scientific research on unified consciousness, and a contemporary method for its realization. NYU neuroscientist Zoran Josipovic will discuss the neural correlates of this unified ground in light of cortical EEG data collected with epilepsy patients, and psychotherapist Judith Blackstone will teach the practices of a ‘Realization Process’ for facilitating direct attunement to unified consciousness.
Presenters: Zoran Josipovic and Judith Blackstone

This workshop will present both the scientific research on unified consciousness, and a contemporary method for realizing it. Zoran will discuss the neural correlates of this unified ground in light of iEEG data collected with epilepsy patients at NYU Langone Medical Center. Judith will teach the practices of the Realization Process for facilitating direct attunement to unified consciousness, the basis of both mind-body unity, and self-other unity.
Outline of the workshop:
- Introduction of the themes
- Realization Process practices
- Neuroscience of unified consciousness, part I
- Dyad Realization Process practices
- Neuroscience of unified consciousness, part II
Zoran Josipovic, PhD, is associate research scientist at NYU Langone Medical Center and adjunct assistant professor for cognitive and affective neuroscience in the Department of Psychology, New York University. He is a founding director of Nonduality Institute, Woodstock, NY.
Judith Blackstone, PhD, is a nonduality teacher and a founding director of Nonduality Institute. She developed the Realization Process, a method of embodied nondual realization. She is author of Belonging Here, The Enlightenment Process, The Intimate Life and The Empathic Ground.
